Praised for his exceptional tonal palette and remarkable technique on the guitar, Sotiris explores a vast repertoire spanning from the 17th century to the avant-garde. In his quest to expand the guitar’s horizons, he has collaborated with composers globally, commissioned new works, pushing the instrument's boundaries. His solo career began at the age of ten; today, he performs across four continents as both a soloist and a dedicated chamber musician.
Sotiris regularly collaborates with the leading orchestras of his native Greece and is a frequent guest on France Musique, Arte, and Greek National Television (ERT). In 2024, he made a landmark debut at the Philharmonie de Paris, performing Henri Tomasi’s Guitar Concerto with the Paris Mozart Orchestra for La Maestra.
The year 2025 marks a milestone in his discography with two major releases. His first solo album, Kithàra (Contrastes Records), is an anthology of commissioned works centered on the theme of Ancient Greece—the culmination of four years of artistic research. Simultaneously, he continues his work with Argos, founded alongside French accordionist Julien Beautemps. Renowned for their virtuoso arrangements of masterpieces like Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Ravel’s Boléro, the duo released their debut album, Masterworks (DiscAuvers), in 2025. They are staples of the French festival circuit, appearing at the Festival de Radio France, Folle Journée de Nantes, and the Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise.
Named "Révélation Guitare Classique 2024" by Guitare Classique Magazine, Sotiris has swept first prizes at prestigious international competitions, including the Concours International de Guitare d’Antony (France), the Seville International Guitar Festival (Spain), the Roland Dyens International Competition (France), the Veria International Guitar Festival (Greece), the Antwerpen Guitar Festival (Belgium), the Bruné International Guitar Competition (USA), the Asia International Guitar Festival (Thailand)… A laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire (2023), he is frequently invited to give masterclasses worldwide and currently serves on the faculty at the Conservatoire Régional de Versailles.
His musical journey began under his father's tutelage before taking him to the Conservatory of Macedonia with Fotis Baxes, then to Bordeaux with Olivier Chassain and Seville with Francisco Bernier. At the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), he earned five degrees with the highest honors, studying under Olivier Chassain, Tristan Manoukian, Michel Michalakakos, Philippe Bernold, and François Salque. He also received guidance from Judicaël Perroy to refine his artistic path.
